Feeling that January overwhelm? This will help!

Hello Friends!

Happy New Year! The flip of the calendar can bring up so much emotion! Reflecting on the year before, taking inventory of expectations (met and unmet), and looking forward with a full range of feelings can be a lot to handle.

When taking time to sort through plans and priorities for the new year, what if we just choose one single focus? Let’s help ourselves out by putting first things first. Let’s prioritize Christ!

While putting Christ first might feel like another thing to worry about on top of an already overflowing pile, we can trust that partnering with Christ in our everyday lives will actually lighten the load.

“As we open our hearts to the influence of the Holy Spirit, our lives become more stable and secure. We experience greater peace, joy, and fulfillment…” - Elder Uchtdorf

Sometimes the pressure to do more, become more, and somehow “do it all” leaves us feeling hopeless and discouraged. Luckily, these expectations are the worlds. God has a very different one for us. Let us watch our lives transform as we choose to prioritize Him, and align our efforts with His desires for us.

Things to help us align our priorities with Christ. Feel better in 5!

1 - Go back to basics! Seek truth first. Simple truths solve complex problems.

2 - Learn to let things go! Even some good things. “We have to forego some good things in order to choose others that are better or best because they develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ…” - Dallin H. Oaks

3 - Get to know YOU! We are God’s creation! Seeing ourselves as he sees us can help us remember what is important and how to spend our time and energy.

4 - Let the effort be enough. “For it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength.” - Mosiah 4:27

5 - “Practice caring more about the things of God than the things of this world.” - President Nelson

Our timing doesn’t always align with God’s timing, and sometimes it can be hard to see the path forward. But God has a plan for us. Each of us! And when we are willing to choose faith, when we are willing to prioritize Christ, and when we make an effort to overcome the world, we are promised incredible things!

Men and women who turn their lives to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, ... lift their spirits, multiple their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace.”
— Ezra Taft Benson
