How to prepare for peace

We are entering a season of transition! That shift from summer to fall can be a big one. Often we find ourselves navigating changing schedules, new demands, and shifting priorities, and then that looming overwhelm the sprint to the end of the year brings starts creeping in! Can you feel it?

In times of transition, PEACE seems to be the first thing that goes out the window. Chaos, stress, and hustle take over—but all is not lost! There is hope!

President Eyring taught that peace is a miracle! That means it doesn’t have to make sense. We have access to the unique peace that comes through Christ always, regardless of our circumstances.

President Nelson said, “…I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.”

Pray for courage. Pray for wisdom. Prepare for peace!

So what can WE do to prepare for and prioritize peace in our daily lives—especially in times of challenging circumstances? Try this!

Feel Better in 5! How to prepare for peace!

  • Make a choice.

    • We can decide right now how we want to feel, react, and respond when stress or contention show up. Setting an intention before we are in the middle of it helps us navigate anything life throws at us with a little more calm and clarity.

  • Give yourself some space.

    • It might feel impossible to carve out a minute of quiet in the midst of our busy schedules, but our peace might just depend on it. We need time to think, pray, process, and be intentional in our lives! Start with setting a timer for 2 minutes!

  • Set the scene.

    • Prioritizing things like daily prayer and time in the scriptures can set us up to react and respond to life the way Christ would—He is our ultimate example of peace! Making time for Him each day will transform everything.

  • Flip the script.

    • How are we talking about our lives? If we find ourselves constantly talking about how stressful and crazy our lives are we will likely find our lives getting even more stressful and crazy. Try noticing and voicing the peace in each day instead—even if it’s fleeting.

  • Shake off shame.

    • We are human—we are going to make mistakes! Our humanness also allows us to change and adapt. When we encounter days where peace wasn’t found we can use it as data to help us do things differently next time. There’s no shame in growth!

We can do this! One day at a time
