How to see more miracles in our lives

Is it possible to list all the answers to prayers we receive or recognize every miracle in our lives? It seems like the most important thing to notice, but the small tokens from God are often what gets overlooked, especially when life is busy, difficult, or distracting.

Maria Eckersley learned to see the abundant goodness of God like bright stars in the sky during the darkest times of her husband’s cancer diagnosis. It wasn’t that all her challenges disappeared, rather, she learned to navigate dark paths by seeing with God’s light and noticing miracles along the way.

Simply put, we see more miracles in our lives when we look for and expect more miracles.

Sheri Dew wrote, “Sometimes it may be tempting to think that, sure, the Lord blesses His chosen servants or the pioneers or others who seem unusually deserving with miracles. But we’re not always so sure about ourselves. President Nelson has counseled each of us, however, to ‘expect miracles.’”

When we make the effort to know God, we begin to see more clearly His magnificent, divine workings in our sacred, earthly lives.

Feel Better in 5! How to see more miracles in our lives

  • Study examples of miracles in the scriptures. Let the word of God remind us of His constancy and power.

  • Write, talk, teach, and share about miracles that we see happening not just in our lives, but in the lives of the people around us. We can be the ones to proclaim, I see God’s hand and God is good.

  • Expect miracles. The scriptures tell us, God is a God of miracles. (Mormon 9:11) Sheri Dew reminds us, “For He has always been, and will always be, a God of miracles.” We can hold tight to this promise.

  • Be open to miracles that happen in unexpected ways. If we’re looking for a certain miracle to take place, we might miss witnessing the one that actually happens.

  • Remember the Lord’s pattern that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." (Alma 37:6) Small miracles happen all around us every day.
